(UNDATED) - Many agencies and organizations are teaming up for National Consumer Protection Week. This year is focusing on fraud and schemes.
Postal Inspector Eddy Boucher says federal agencies seized over 500 thousand fraudulent checks, which totaled over $2-billion dollars scammers were attempting to take from Americans.
He says there is no legitimate reason for anyone to give you a check and expect an overpayment from you in return.
Victims of any scam are urged to first contact your bank and then law enforcement agencies.
