(KOKOMO) - Two new products have been assigned to Chrysler’s 750-worker casting plant in Kokomo.

The car company announced Friday that workers there will help make an engine block for the upcoming Phoenix 6-cylinder engine, as well as a case to house the new front wheel drive Getrag automatic transmission.

The company won't hire more workers to deal with the extra work. Their hope is that the construction of the new products will help preserve jobs at the factory.
