Chiropractor Firms Face Fraud Lawsuit

Last updated on Monday, March 10, 2008

(UNDATED) - An Arlington, Texas area chiropractic firm with ties to Indiana is facing a federal lawsuit.

Allstate Insurance is asking for at least $10 million dollars from Chiropractic Strategies for what they say is insurance fraud. The firm has chiropractors in Indianapolis, Hammond, and South Bend.

Bill Mellander with Allstate says the chiropractors would get access to police accident reports, then call the person who wasn't at fault. Once in the door, the chiropractors would allegedly tell people they have extensive injuries when they really don't.

Mellander says Allstate would get the insurance bill for fraudulent claims. The two offices in Indianapolis under investigation are Midtown Chiropractic and Monon Trail Chiropractic. The investigation is on-going.

The suit targets clinics in five states. Anyone who thinks they might've been scammed can contact the national insurance fraud hotline at 1-800-835-6422.
