(UNDATED) - White Lodging Services plans to expand its national headquarters in Northwest Indiana, creating up to 100 new jobs by 2012.

The company develops, owns and manages premium-brand hotels in 14 states. White Lodging currently employs 116 at its existing leased headquarters complex in Merrillville and plans to begin hiring vice presidents, senior directors, managers and operations staff before the end of the year.

Governor Mitch Daniels says the company had considered other states but decided to build on its presence in Northwest Indiana. The company will relocate from its current leased corporate offices next year once the headquarters is built.

It was the first of two significant job announcements made by Governor Daniels Thursday. EDS announced it will locate a national software solution center at the Purdue Research Park. The new facility is expected to create more than 200 software engineer and business analyst positions by 2010.

The company will initially lease 13,000 square feet of office space in the park. It will move into a yet-to-be constructed facility in 2009.
