Super Bowl Sunday Means Television Upgrades

(UNDATED) - The Super Bowl usually results in increased sales and rentals of TV’s.

At Best Buy, they start seeing an increased interest in televisions about two weeks before the big game.

Flat panel TVs are the hottest item and the bigger the screen, the better. The 50-inch screen is popular this year, where in the past, it was the 42- inch.

Lots of customers want more than just a TV. They want things like Direct TV and surround sound and Best Buy says, if customers add some of those items, they cut the price of the TV.

Best buy guarantees delivery by Sunday's game if the TV is purchased no later than Saturday... but they don't guarantee that they'll set it up for you. You might have to do that yourself.

A spokesman for Best Buy says the fact that the Super Bowl occurs so close to Christmas doesn't seem to hurt business because the game is one of only a couple of times a year that you can have a party and everyone is going to be watching TV.

He says stores are putting refrigerators, called a "keg-o-rator", near the TV's for those who want a nice "frosty cold one" while they're watching the game.
