(UNDATED) - Kroger pharmacies in Indiana have jumped on the four-dollar generic prescription bandwagon.

The price applies to prescriptions for 30-day supplies. John Elliott with Kroger says there's no age restriction on the pricing. He suggests customers check with their doctor to see if a generic drug is appropriate for them.

Kroger pharmacists have a list of 300 generic drugs covered by the offer or you can check their website, Kroger.com.

Wal-Mart began the $4 generic drug pricing trend in 2006. But Elliot maintains Kroger's rollout of the offer isn't a competitive reaction. He says it's consistent with the company's expansion of pharmacies and fuel center locations to meet customer demand for one-stop shopping.
