Knauf Insulation Rebuilds Following Fire
(SHELBYVILLE) - It’s been one year to the day since a multi-million dollar fire destroyed part of Knauf Insulation’s North American corporate campus in Shelbyville.
President Robert Claxton says the company's research and development and engineering and facilities offices were destroyed. But, he tells Inside Indiana Business the company took the opportunity to design a new building that will be a Leed Gold Certified commercial building.
Claxton says the leadership in energy and environmental design-new construction certification means the building will use about 30-percent less energy and water than a conventional building. It also uses recycled and renewable materials.
The new building is expected to cost more than five-million dollars. Construction is currently underway.
