Vectren Plans To Build Gas-Fired Energy Plant

(EVANSVILLE) - Vectren wants to build a new 80-million-dollar natural gas-fired plant near fort branch in Gibson County.
Vectren says it would be a "peaking" plant, coming into play only when the utility needs extra juice to keep up with demand, such as during summer heat waves.
The plant's 100-megawatt capacity would fill a gap left when a power purchasing contract expires next year.
