(INDIANAPOLIS) - Officials are today dedicating the newest facility at Indianapolis International Airport.
The 6 million dollar airport fire department fire station number 1 is part of the midfield project.
Officials say the new station was needed to meet the demands of the expanding airport complex and to provide the best possible emergency response times.
Ground was broken for the facility on December 1, 2006. It will house six on-duty firefighters and four full-time administrative personnel.
The building was designed by RQAW and built by R. L. Turner with oversight by Shrewsberry & Associates. Construction management was provided by Garcia Construction.
