(CINCINNATI) - Macy’s is closing one of its five department stores in Indianapolis.
The Washington Square closing is one of nine the retailer has announced nationwide. Macy's says those stores are underperforming.
The Washington Square store opened in 1974 as a Lazarus -- Macy's bought that chain a few years ago.
The company hasn't given a specific closing date. It says it plans to open five new stores nationwide next year.
