(MUNCIE) - It’s the final week of holiday shopping. How are we doing?

Michael Hicks, Director of the Bureau of Business Research at Ball State University, says despite Grinch-like predictions, holiday spending has soared.

The longer holiday shopping season accounts for some of that, but Hicks says spending is "breathtakingly higher" than in previous years.

The state's holiday sales figures took a hit from the snow storm last weekend, but Hicks says shoppers are still determined to buy what's on their list. So he's predicting a big spending surge in the final days of the holiday shopping season.
