(EVANSVILLE) - AT&T Indiana President George Fleetwood credits Indiana’s deregulation of the telecommunications market with making the company want to place call centers in the state.
In a wide-ranging talk at the Evansville rotary, Fleetwood announced the AT&T Foundation is donating nearly 37-thousand dollars to Evansville Habitat, Patchwork Central, The Arts Council of Southwest Indiana and the Visiting Nurse Association.
And Fleetwood noted the company's purchase of Cingular Wireless earlier this year. He says the acquisition makes good business sense now that nearly 70-percent of Americans own a cell phone.
