Wind Farms Cropping Up Across Indiana

(WINCHESTER) - Some Randolph County farmers are looking at a new crop — the wind.
Farmers are considering plans to lease their land for power-generating wind turbines. State officials say property owners can expect to receive lease payments of $3,500 to $6,000 a year per turbine.
The turbine towers stand about 265 feet tall, with 100 foot rotor blades. Some farmers have concerns about noise, safety and other issues.
Construction has already begun on Indiana's first wind farm, 87 turbines in Northwest Indiana's Benton County.
