UAW Strike Enters Third Week

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A strike by three United Auto Workers locals in Indianapolis has entered its third week.
The UAW accuses International Truck and Engine of violating its contract by outsourcing some work to Mexico and a nonunion plant in Texas. The union also accuses ITE of illegally canceling supplemental unemployment benefits.
The UAW has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. While that grievance is pending, 11 UAW locals have walked out. Those locals include an ITE engine plant and the Indianapolis Casting Corporation plant in Indy, as well as ITE clerical workers in the city. A Fort Wayne engineering plant is also affected.
ITE supplies truck parts to Navistar.
