IHSAA Events Good For Downtown Indy Businesses
(INDIANAPOLIS) - A study commissioned by the Indiana High School Athletic Association finds that IHSAA state championship events attract more than 140-thousand visitors to Downtown Indianapolis and generate more than 36-million dollars in economic impact for the region.
The IHSAA notes that the economic impact figure does not include spending by residents of the Indianapolis region which, if included, would add an additional 105.6 million dollars to the estimate.
IHSAA Commissioner Blake Ress tells Inside Indiana Business the study was done to confirm what the organization suspected regarding the impact of its championship events on the economy. Ress says the data will be very useful in attracting corporate support for events and in negotiations on future contracts.
