(INDIANAPOLIS) - 16 diabetes researchers from three countries have gathered at Eli Lilly headquarters to compare notes on progress against the disease, and to lay the groundwork for more research to be done in Indiana.

Lilly and the Indiana Health Industry Forum co-sponsored the event. IHIF CEO Michael Brooks says the daylong symposium was a follow-up to a similar event focusing on orthopedics.

IHIF was created 13 years ago to help create a better business environment for health-related companies to set up shop in Indiana.

Brooks says much of the diabetes summit centered on ways private companies such as Lilly and Roche can collaborate with university researchers.
