(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Get ready for Turkey Day to take a bigger gobble out of your pocketbook this year.
Purdue University agricultural economists say a Thanksgiving meal will cost more than last year because of rising energy costs and world food demands.
Our partners at Inside Indiana Business report that food prices have increased at a rate of 4.4% from last year, with dairy prices up 15% and egg prices up 45%.
While turkey supplies are high, strong export demand is expected to trigger a slight increase in prices. However, experts say it will be up to individual retailers to decide whether to pass that hike on to consumers.
