(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis-based WellPoint Insurance has opened its new precision RX pharmacy at Indianapolis International Airport.

President and CEO Angela Braly says the facility will at first hire 400 pharmacy specialists to help distribute and monitor customer use of about one thousand drugs. Eventually, it'll add another 500 jobs.

The new pharmacy is in the abandoned United Airlines offices, which the state and city are still paying for long after united declared bankruptcy and took all the jobs with it.

Braly says the high-tech facility will help make sure the proper drugs in the right amounts get to health plan members quickly.

Specialty drugs are used by only one-to-three-percent of health plan members but account for about a third of pharmaceutical costs.
