(HAMMOND) - There are 400 new jobs in the Northwestern Indiana city of Hammond with the opening of a Cabela’s.
Cabela's is noted for it's hunting, fishing and outdoor gear. The 185 thousand square foot store at I 80/94 and Indianapolis Blvd. is the first for the company in Indiana. A second store is set to open in Greenwood in 2008.
Spokesman John Castillo says Hammond was selected because catalogue sales and internet data base shows many customers live within 100 miles of the store. He also says there is the outdoor culture that exists in Indiana.
