(ANDERSON) - Anderson’s Hoosier Park Racetrack has broken ground for a new 92-thousand-square-foot slot machine wing.
Construction actually started a month ago, but Mayor Kevin S. Smith and other city officials joined executives of Hoosier Park and parent company Centaur for a ceremony and celebration.
Hoosier Park plans to open the slots building next summer, a little more than a year after enactment of the state law allowing slot machine gambling at horse tracks
Rival track Indiana Downs, in Shelbyville, is also putting up a slots building.
Hoosier Park General Manager of Racing Rick Moore says adding the casino will bring more than 400 jobs.
