Bedford Sees Decrease In Unemployment

(BEDFORD) - According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, unemployment is down in Bedford.

Bedford has logged a 1.1% decrease in unemployment from July of 2006 to July of 2007, going from 10% to 8.9%.

However, that still puts Bedford second highest in unemployment in the statistical area, being edged out only by Spencer, IN in Owen County, reporting a 2.4% percent decrease to 11%.

Overall, the 8th Economic Growth Region, which goes from Monroe County to Orange, and from Daviess County to Brown, dropped almost 1 point to 4.3%, and the State of Indiana dropped from 5.2 to 4.5%.

The state doing the worst overall? Michigan at more than 7%. The best? Idaho at about 2.5%.
