(RICHMOND) - The Primex Plastics plant in Richmond plans on resuming some production after Friday’s massive warehouse fire.

The polyethylene plant will reopen today, if workers can clear away all of the water and debris left by the fire.

The company's "COR-X" plant will reopen on September 24th after the damaged equipment is replaced. "COR-X" is a plastic designed for products like the yard signs used by political campaigns.

The warehouse fire reportedly started in the basement but quickly spread throughout the four-story building and at one point threatened to spread into the plant itself.

Primex Plastics spokesperson Nancy Wissel says there is still no official damage estimate, but it expected to reach into the multi-million-dollar range.

Primex Plastics makes plastic sheet and roll stock.

The Richmond facility is the company's largest plant, with 331 employees, and is also corporate headquarters. Primex also owns plants elsewhere in the U.S. and in the United Kingdom.
