(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Central State Hospital property on the west side of Indianapolis has been idle for several years.
Now the Central Greens Project seeks a mixture of commercial and residential development on the 150 acre site. Senator Evan Bayh closed Central State when he was governor.
Pending approval by the city... co-developer Mike Higbee says plans would call for commercial development and single family and town homes. Plans also include a 30 acre park and a 10 acre quiet park.
The plans also call for preserving historical buildings using the state medical museum, already on site.
Higbee anticipates an 8 to 10 year time line to complete development. He says the meetings the past year with neighbors and the city have helped to carefully plan development.
