AT&T Expands And Cuts Jobs At Same Time

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Yesterday, AT&T Indiana trumpeted its plans to add 475 new technician jobs around the state.
With less fanfare, the company has been laying off other Hoosier workers.
AT&T Indiana President George Fleetwood says he doesn't have figures on the number of layoffs. He tells Inside Indiana Business the telecommunications industry is changing, and the company has been forced to make cuts as parts of the business, such as pay phones, fade away.
