30,000 Apply For Jobs At Greensburg Honda Plant
(GREENSBURG) - Honda has been flooded with 30-thousand applications for the two-thousand jobs at its new plant in Greensburg.
Honda set a midnight Sunday deadline to apply for the Greensburg plant. It got more applicants than the entire population of Greensburg and Seymour combined.
Honda's David Iida says Indiana's Department of Workforce Development will weed out those without a high school education, or who live outside the 20 Indiana counties where Honda is hiring. The rest of the stack will be forwarded to Honda to decide whom to interview, starting around late November.
Iida says past automotive experience may be a plus, but says the company is primarily looking for enthusiasm and a sense of teamwork.
The plant doesn't even open for another year, but Iida says the first hires should be made in December. That'll allow time for training in the manufacturing process and what Iida calls Honda's way of doing business.
