(WORTHINGTON) - Corn Flour Producers LLC in Worthington says it plans to expand its operations to add a third shift by the end of the year, which will create ten new jobs.

The company has been in business for about a year and says that in the next several years it plans to add a second production line and up to 20 new jobs. The company makes flour for small family-owned tortilla makers in the eastern half of the country.

Corn Flour Producers Treasurer Ben Singleton tells "Inside Indiana Business" that the company was started by a tortilla maker in Atlanta that couldn't get good quality flour for his tortillas. He partnered with a Knox County farmer looking for a new market for his corn.

Singleton says the company is located in a former meat packing plant in Greene County, with enough room to continue to expand operations.

Singleton says the company buys its corn from farmers in Southwest Indiana, but the increased demand for corn to make ethanol will force his company to raise the price of its flour next year by 10 percent.
