(INDIANAPOLIS) - Workforce and economic development officials from around the state will meet in Indianapolis Wednesday for the Strategic Skills Initiative Summit.

Center of Workforce Innovations President Linda Woloshansky tells Inside Indiana Business that attendees will share best practices for filling occupational shortages around the state. She hopes to hear what's working in other parts of the state and bring those ideas home to Northwest Indiana.

Woloshansky says she will share information about a week-long camp for 7th and 8th graders that was started in the region to increase the emerging pipeline of interested and skilled young people for the manufacturing sector.

The summit's keynote speaker will be U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao.

The event is being organized by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
