Indiana Unemployment Rate Drops

Last updated on Wednesday, June 20, 2007

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Indiana has posted its best unemployment rate in nearly six years… even though the state lost 21-hundred jobs last month.

A smaller labor force puts the jobless rate at 4.5%, down from 4.8% last month, and the lowest rate since 9/11.

State Democratic Chairman Dan Parker pounced on the job-loss numbers, noting only eleven other states lost jobs last month. He blames Governor Mitch Daniels, and says Daniels needs "to listen to experts who know how to implement a long-range economic development plan."

Indiana has now lost 6,200 jobs this year, but has gained nearly 27,000 since Daniels took office.
