Wal-Mart Expands In Gas City
(GAS CITY) - Economic officials are touting the opening of a new 900,000 square-foot Wal-Mart distribution center in Gas City.
The facility will reportedly employ about 900 people within three years. Wal-Mart spokesman David Shank says the center marks the employment rebirth of the Marion and Gas City communities.
The Grant County workforce took a major hit when the RCA Thompson television plant closed several years ago.
Five other Wal-Mart distribution facilities are located throughout the state. Shank says Wal-Mart currently employs about 38,000 associates in Indiana.
