Business Faces Fines After Sending Tech Overseas
(UNDATED) - The U.S. Justice Department says that ITT Corp. will plead guilty today and pay fines of up to 100 million dollars for illegally shipping night vision goggle parts to China, Singapore and Britain in 2001.
The technology for the goggles was developed at ITT operations in Fort Wayne and at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center.
The company will also plead guilty to filing misleading export reports in 2004 and 2005.
ITT says the settlement refers to a few individuals in one of its business units. The company says it is implementing new monitoring approaches, communications and training initiatives.
