VA reports a shortage of Alogliptin, Veterans needing assistance can contact Lawrence County Veterans Affairs

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Veterans Affairs Officer Brad Bough received information that the Veterans Medical Center Pharmacy reported that there is a shortage of the blood sugar control medication Alogliptin.

“All manufacturers of Alogliptin currently have the product listed as unavailable due to a short-term backorder,” added Bough. “If you are having a hard time finding your medication call the office or stop by and we can assist.”

Medical professionals say to continue to take your medication as prescribed and to order your refills as you normally would. The VA Pharmacy will refill orders as the medication becomes available. The manufacturers estimate this to last 4 to 6 weeks.

“We will assist the best we can,” said Bough. “We will contact local pharmacies to see if they had the medication and the VA will pay for it you will just have to pay your co-pay.”

The Lawrence County Veterans Affairs Office is located in room 5 in the basement of the Lawrence County Courthouse. You can contact them by calling them at 812-275-6411 or you can email them at vetnet@lawrencecounty.in.gov.
