Mitchell man arrested after causing a disturbance

MITCHELL – A Mitchell man was arrested after Mitchell Police officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Tulip Street after a report of an unwanted male.

Damien Pinnick

When police arrived on Sunday at 1:13 p.m. the caller told police 28-year-old Damien Pinnick was “drunk” and he was making threats and being aggressive.

When police arrived they found four people standing outside of the home near the road.

Pinnick was sitting in the road with a large open bottle of Jim Beam placed next to him.

The caller told police Pinnick had shown up at his home and was beating on the front door. He was being loud and aggressive and making threatening comments.

The caller told police he knew who Pinnick was but did not personally know him.

Officers then spoke to Pinnick who was intoxicated and was slurring his words so much that the officers couldn’t understand what he was saying. He then grabbed the bottle of Jim Bean and began drinking it and ignored the officers.

An officer bent down to remove the bottle from Pinnick’s hands and he became aggressive with the officer. Pinnick was then ordered to stand up but he refused. An officer attempted to assist Pinnick to stand up and he pushed the officer away.

Pinnick could not stand on his own and had to be assisted to a police vehicle.

In Pinnick’s pant pocket an officer found a marijuana smoking device with burnt plant residue inside. They also found a small bottle of alcoholic beverage “99 Apples” in his pocket.

Due to Pinnick’s high level of intoxication, he was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for a medical evaluation. Once medically cleared he was transported to jail on charges of public intoxication, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Officers dealt with Pinnick earlier in the day and had given him the summons to appear in court on a charge of public intoxication. He was taken home and told to stay there but two hours later officers were called to this incident.
