Floyd stops BNL to clinch share of HHC

GALENA – Floyd Central clinched a share of the Hoosier Hills Conference title with a 9-1 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during boys high school soccer action on Saturday.

The Highlanders (9-3-3 overall) finished league play at 5-0-1, deadlocked at the top with New Albany. BNL finished the regular season at 6-7-2 (2-3-1 in the league).

Floyd’s Dakota Hart posted a hat trick and Ben Sisloff added two goals.

“Floyd is a very good team,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “Technical and athletic, very possibly the best team we’ve played this year. We struggled with their ability to possess the ball, probe the defense and find our weaknesses.”

Gavin Green had the lone goal for the Stars, finding the net with 12:15 left in the first half. BNL suffered its fourth straight loss.

“We need to shake this off and get prepared for the sectional next week,” Otis said.

BNL will face a rematch with Seymour in the sectional semifinal at Seymour on Wednesday. The Owls posted a 1-0 win in the regular-season clash on Thursday at BNL.
