Obituary: Janet L. Kimbley

December 27, 1941 – July 22, 2022

Janet L. Kimbley, 80, of Seymour, passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, in Columbus.

Born December 27, 1941, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Danny and Mary (Darcus) Speer. She married Larry Kimbley on June 5, 1960, and he survives. She had worked at Farm Bureau Co-op and retired from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour and the Gideons International Auxiliary. She was a great cook, a loving spouse, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a faithful follower of Christ and a role model to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Larry, of Seymour; a daughter, Debbie Hemmelgarn, of Seymour; a son, James Kimbley, and wife, Beverly, of Seymour; grandchildren, Lindsay Hooker (Todd), Jena Hudson (Quinn), Victoria Vires (Andy), Joseph Kimbley, and Megan Kimbley; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Aubrey Hooker, Presley and Henry Vires, Finley and Archer Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Wanda “Tootie” Rout, and Patty Robertson; and a son-in-law, Brian Hemmelgarn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dave Ferry, Bro. Perry East and Pastor Dan DeFriece officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26th and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, July 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
