Obituary: Luoma Pearl Stiles


June 8, 1940 – July 17, 2022

Luoma Pearl Stiles, 82, of Bedford, passed away at 4:10 am, on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Bliss Place in Bedford.

Born June 8, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of William A. and Ruby Irene (Hackler) Baker. She married Willard “Simp” Stiles on July 8, 1958, and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2020. She retired as a secretary for Bob White’s LP Gas. She was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and assisted at Country Sweets in Fayetteville.

Survivors include a son, J.D. Stiles, and his wife, Toni, of Bloomington; daughters, Sondra McWilliams, of Washington and Patricia Sullivan and husband, John “Bub” of Bedford; eight grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Albert Wayne Baker; a sister, Helen Irene Terry; two grandsons, Willy Sullivan and Brandon Stiles; a son-in-law, Rick McWilliams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd at the Fayetteville Baptist Church with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd, and from 12 noon until the hour of service on Saturday, July 23rd at the Fayetteville Baptist Church.
