ORANGE CO. – On Wednesday, July 6th at approximately 7:54 p.m., Indiana State Police Sergeant Mike Allen attempted to stop a Honda Shadow motorcycle in French Lick for distracted driving.
The driver, Ricky Daugherty, of Taswell, refused to stop. The motorcycle left the roadway, driving through a yard and Daugherty fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and Daugherty was taken into custody without further incident.
Daugherty was in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. He also had an arrest warrant out of Crawford County. Troopers conducted a Drug Recognition Evaluation and it was determined he was intoxicated. Daugherty was given a chemical test at IU Health Paoli and tested positive for meth, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, and THC.
Daugherty was booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of resisting arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and operating a vehicle on a controlled substance.
West Baden Police also assisted at the scene.
