Changes within the Bedford Fire Department addressed during Tuesday Board of Works meeting

BEDFORD – The Bedford Board of Works and Safety met in regular session Tuesday afternoon, to discuss promotions within the fire department and the swearing in of a new firefighter, following the retirement of Lieutenant Bradley D. Cummings after 20 years of service.

Following the retirement of Cummings, roles and responsibilities needed to be adjusted within the department to better serve the community. Each promotion is on a one year probationary period, which include:

  • Senior Firefighter Shane S. Nolan to Lieutenant
  • Firefighter First Class Toby J. Tincher to Senior Firefighter
  • New Hire Ethan J. Lipscomb to Firefighter Third Class

Along with the adjustments, Adam W. Higgins was sworn in as a member of the Bedford Fire Department by Mayor Sam Craig. Adam’s wife Jaymee and their three children were in attendance of the swearing in ceremony.
