NLCS Board approves largest hourly wage increase in school corporation history Monday night

BEDFORD – Members of the North Lawrence Community School Board met in a regular meeting to discuss the largest pay raise for hourly employees in NLCS history Monday night.

NLCS Superintendent Dr. Ty Mungle

“We have delivered on a promise I made to our employees since I began as Superintendent and that is to shift our operational costs and improve wages to our employees,” said NLCS Superintendent Dr. Ty Mungle. “This is a big step, the biggest that NLCS has ever taken to increase pay.”

The average pay increase for starting pay is set at $4.26, and the average top wage has increased by $1.71 since 2018. The pay increases do not include health insurance or other benefits by the school corporation, but rather an addition to the benefits in hopes to attract more applicants.

The board then discussed the extension of contracts for NLCS Administrators for one year, which included the contract for Dr. Mungle. Assistant administrators have been extended for two years. The board voted 4-2 in favor of the contract extensions, with NLCS Board members Jeff Lambrecht and Wendy Miller voting against the proposed extensions.
