BNL’s Waggoner, Ratliff earn All-State honors

BNL’s Annie Waggoner was named First Team All-State by the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana.

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence junior Annie Waggoner and freshman Ava Ratliff were named First Team All-State by the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana.

Waggoner, an Indiana State recruit and possible Miss Softball contender next season, went 20-2 in the pitching circle with a 1.18 ERA and 192 strikeouts. She also hit .404 with 4 home runs and 25 RBIs as the Stars (28-2) advanced to the Class 4A semistate for the second straight season.

Ratliff, a catcher, set three school records while blasting a state-leading 21 home runs. She hit .538 and set new marks for single-season hits (50) and RBIs (53), in addition to the new HR record.

BNL seniors Maddy Bennett (first base) and Carlee Kern (shortstop) were named Academic All-State, and senior McKaylin Turner (left field) was named Academic Honorable Mention.
