Obituary: Thomas Jordan Bell

April 4, 2005 – May 12, 2022

Thomas Jordan Bell, 17, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Indiana University Bedford Hospital.

Born April 4, 2005, in Goshen, he was the son of Greggory Allen and Tricia Lynn (Cassity) Bell.

Thomas was a special gift from God; loved by all those who met him.  Thomas was limited by cerebral palsy and blindness, but he didn’t allow that to keep him from enjoying life.  He was a boy of routine and enjoyed watching Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, Cars, and Monsters Inc., among other movies, daily.  Even though he was limited verbally and physically, he loved listening to his mother read about Jesus, and heavenly things, and listening to music praising God.  He did what he could to sing and dance to God. His favorite song was “The Little Drummer Boy”.  If you asked him where Jesus lived he would either say “har” (heart) or “thump thump”.

He had a contagious smile that would brighten the room. He was always happy no matter what the circumstances were and were very tender-hearted toward others’ pain. Thomas would love to tell you about the animals and tractors on “Old McDonald’s Farm” and everyone loved his bird whistle along with his other animal sounds. Thomas loved listening to trains, and his favorite train movie was The Polar Express.  Thomas loved learning names; his mother was always “mama”, his father was always “Geeg” and his little sister was “Tasa”.  He knew his other brothers’ and sisters’ names and the names of his nephews, along with several names of the nursing staff who took care of him. Thomas and Tasha had a very special bond and he would let us know if she had a seizure when we were not in the room with her. He loved Tasha very much and was very protective of her.  He was much loved and will be greatly missed on this side of heaven.

Surviving is his parents, Greggory Allen and Tricia Lynn Bell of Bedford; siblings, Marcus (Yesi) Bell of Three Rivers, Michigan, Micah Bell of Indianapolis, Stephanie (Sam) Castillo of the Dominican Republic, and Tasha Bell of Bedford; nephews, Luis, Cesar, Bryan, Noah, Lucas, Nathan, plus another nephew or niece on the way, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are Grandma Cassity, Grandma and Grandpa Bell, and Uncle Travis (Nikki) Lechel.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Crossroads Community Church with Pastor Jon Pierson officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
