MCCSC receives Award for Excellence for Outstanding Postsecondary CTE Program of Study, to the partnership of Ivy Tech and St. Mary’s of the Woods

BLOOMINGTON – Indiana Office of Career and Technical Education, under the Governor’s Workforce and Indiana Association of Career and Technical Education (IACTE), presented the Award for Excellence for Outstanding Postsecondary CTE Program of Study to the partnership of Ivy Tech Community College, St. Mary’s of the Woods and the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) for their Pathway to Licensure program.

The MCCSC Pathways to Teacher Licensure program is a transition to teaching program that works closely with higher education institutions, employing para-professionals to work in the MCCSC schools while pursuing their degree, and providing wrap-around support and mentoring. MCCSC will have grown its own teachers steeped in district culture and practices that are deeply committed to teaching for years to come.

The program is aligned with MCCSC’s Strategic Plan. Those selected will be required to commit to working for MCCSC while enrolled in coursework and teach in MCCSC for a period of time upon completion of their teaching degree.
