Severe weather possible

GREENE CO. – According to Greene County Emergency Management Director Roger Axe severe weather could strike today between 5:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

“In a statewide conference call with the National Weather Service (NWS) Tuesday we were advised there would be rain off and on most of Wednesday,” Axe said. “If there is a break in the rain and the sun comes out and heats the air it will become unstable and increase the chance of tornado activity and strong winds.”

Several organizations have activities planned for Wednesdays.

“We are asking people to think if they really need to have such events if there is a potential of severe weather and for attenders to be in possible dangerous weather,” Axe added. “Is such an event worth putting lives at possible risk? However, if organizations decide to have their events they need to keep and eye on the sky.”
