BNL runners finish second at Seymour

SEYMOUR – Zane Thompson recorded two victories as Bedford North Lawrence finished second during a three-team meet at Seymour during high school track action on Thursday night.

In the boys meet, the Stars totaled 53.5 points. Jennings County won the meet with 76 while the Owls posted 37.5. In the girls meet, Seymour won with 83 points, followed by the Stars (47) and Panthers (37).

Thompson crossed the line first in the 100 meter dash (11.42 seconds) and 300 low hurdles (42.09). Other winners for the Stars included Noah Carter (16.07 in the 110 high hurdles), Cole Baker (24.57 in the 200), Maddex McFarland (18-7 3/4 in the long jump) and Carter Kimmel (41-1/2 in the shot put).

“Our sprints and field events were good,” BNL coach Brett Deckard said. “Jennings hurt us in the distances.”

In the girls meet, BNL’s Lindley Steele was a double winner, taking the 100 (12.75) and long jump (15-7). Alessia Agostini also recorded two victories, claiming the 100 hurdles (17.73) and 300 hurdles (56.86). Autumn Hall won the discus at 105-4.

“They were outstanding, as usual,” BNL coach Jim Lewis said. “Our team effort cannot be questioned. Everyone gave maximum effort on another cold and rainy night.”

BNL will return to action on April 14.
