Four people injured in Greene County accident

GREENE CO. – Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on State Road 54 near N Harv-Wright Road in Greene County Tuesday afternoon. 

The accident was reported at 3:30 p.m. 

According to Greene County  Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jordan Allor, 35-year-old Cristan Elsmor, of Solsberry, was traveling east in a 2000 Dodge Durango when she handed her daughter a drink that was in the backseat. Elsmor told police she ran off the south side of the roadway and then overcorrected causing the vehicle to go into the westbound lane. 

Sgt. Allor says 53-year-old Sheila Dougherty, of Linton, was traveling west and struck Elsmor’s Durango with her 2008 Chevrolet Equinox as it came into her lane.

Elsmor and her 6-year-old passenger both complained of back pain and were transported by Greene County Ambulance Service to IU Health Bloomington Hospital 

Elsmor’s other passenger,  51-year-old Carrie Marion, who suffered leg and hand injuries was flown by Air Evac 150 to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.

Dougherty, who suffered a chest injury was flown by Air Evac 17 to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.

 State Road 54 was shut down from 3:40 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. while the accident was investigated.

Assisting at the scene was Center Township Fire Department, Beech Creek Township Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Air Evac 17 out of Paoli, Air Evac 150 out of Olney, Il., Bill’s Auto in Bloomfield and Bell’s Built in Solsberry.
