Obituary: Nancy King Smith

February 1, 1930 – March 2, 2022

Nancy King Smith, 92, peacefully departed this life at her home in Miami, FL, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Nancy was born February 1, 1930, to the late William Hobart King and Edith Mae (Baldwin) King. Nancy attended and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1947. She furthered her education at Agnes Scott and Barry University. Nancy was gifted in many ways, as a seamstress, historian for her church, researcher of family genealogy, and author of family history.

Nancy was always grateful and thankful for the many blessings in her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Irene Smith, Susan Marie (Smith) Berndgen (Michael), grandchildren John and Michelle Berndgen of Florida, daughter-in-law Anita (Tankersley) Smith, and granddaughters Madison and Rileigh Smith of Georgia. Her siblings: Douglas King (Doris), David King, Warren King (Susie), Netha Wyman (Frederick), Claude King (Kathryn), and Jill Sutton (Mickie) in Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and son, Ralph Kenan III; siblings: Rosella Middleton (Lloyd), Phillip King (Margaret), Ted King (Marcella), Donna Norton, Fredric King (Linda), Rebecca Gregory, Mark King (Deborah).

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hebron Church at 2613 Nocatee Dr.  A celebration of life ceremony to be held later.
