SEYMOUR – Trevin Hutchinson carded a 78 as Bedford North Lawrence finished third in the season-opening Seymour Invitational during high school golf action at Shadowood on Saturday afternoon.

The Stars, making their debut under new coach Jeff Hein, posted a team score of 345. Guerin Catholic, last year’s state runner-up, won the event with a sensational score of 300, while Bloomington North was a distant second with 340.

Hutchinson, who carded three birdies, finished fifth overall. Guerin Catholic’s Connor McNeely was the medalist with a 1-under 71.

“It was good starting point,” Hein said. “We found things we need to work on, like the short game and course management. We know what we need to do. It was our first time off of Otis Park, so we can figure out a lineup in different matches coming up.”

Jett Jones posted an 83, Dylan Endris added 91 and Colton Staggs completed the BNL scoring with 93.

The Stars will return to action on Thursday at Otis, hosting Bloomington South.
