Bedford man crashes vehicle, police find drugs and drug paraphernalia

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested when a warrant was issued for his arrest after an incident on December 29, 2021.

David Henderson

Police arrested 43-year-old  David Henderson, on charges of possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on December 29, 2021, at approximately 7:42 p.m. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to an accident on State Road 158 near Butterfly Lane.

Police say Henderson drove a vehicle off the road and struck a tree.

IU Health ambulance service and Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene when police arrived.

Henderson told police his vehicle slid off the road because of the wet road conditions. He was complaining of pain in his hips and legs. He was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital for treatment.

While taking photos of the scene, the officer noticed a green cooler, “Igloo”  brand, in front of Henderson’s vehicle approximately 10 yards into the woods. It appeared that the cooler had been tossed or thrown into the woods because of how it was sitting. The cooler was not sitting flat on the ground. The cooler was in good condition and did not appear to have been out in the elements for a very long amount of time. Due to the rain that evening, if the cooler had been in the location where it was found, it would have been completely saturated with water.

In the cooler police found marijuana, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia.

While at the hospital, emergency room staff reported they found Henderson had a pill bottle that contained a baggie of suspected crystal meth.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Henderson’s arrest.
