Obituary: Ray Mark Lindsey

October 21, 1963 – March 27, 2022

Ray Mark Lindsey, 58, of Mitchell, passed away on March 27, 2022, at IU Health Bloomington.

Born October 21, 1963, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy (Dutcher) Lindsey. He married Debbie Wheeler on December 12, 2000, and she survives.

Ray was a graduate of Paoli High School class of 1982. He worked for the Indiana State Highway Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bedford; the Noon Lion’s Club; Marion Township Advisory Board; Suicide Prevention Coalition; and was highly involved in the GOP Republican Party at both the state and local levels.

Surviving to cherish Ray’s memory are his wife, Debbie; two sons, Tony (Stephanie) Brock and Adam (Alli) Brock; one daughter, Adrienne (Ronnie) Blackburn; eight grandchildren, Clayton, Cody, Christian, Gracie, Maddie, Addie, Sasha, and Ruby; one brother, Dick Lindsey; two sisters, Janie Chastain and Charlene (David) Graves; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Bob (Suzi) Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Chuck Lindsey; and one sister, Jill Lindsey.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m.. on Friday, April 1, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Bedford with Pastor Jason Filler officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Bedford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Bedford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ferguson-Lee Chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses.
