Man sentenced to prison for violating his terms of probation

BEDFORD – Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Bob Cline sentenced a Springville man to 500 days in the
Indiana Department of Correction after the man failed to comply with the terms of his probation.

Kerby Silvers

Kerby Silvers, 49, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life, a Level 6 felony, and he was sentenced to 910 days in prison, with 730 of those days suspended to home detention, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana.

He failed to follow the terms of his probation, and on Thursday, the judge ordered him to serve out the remaining 500 days of his home detention in the Indiana Department of Correction.

Prosecutor Sam Arp

“Judge Cline issued the prison sentence after he carefully considered the defendant’s criminal history and current behavior patterns,” said Lawrence County Prosecutor Samuel C. Arp II. “We believe the Judge issued the appropriate sentence for an offender who was given the opportunity to change his
habits, but chose not to participate in the terms set forth as a part of the probation.”
