Pipeline project begins next week in Washington County

WASHINGTON CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Yardberry Landscaping Excavating Company plans to begin pipelining at a structure on S.R. 56 in Washington County on or after Monday, March 21, weather permitting. Work is planned 5.46 miles east of S.R. 135 near Georgetown.

Structures on S.R. 60 (6.22 miles west of S.R. 56 near Campbellsburg) and S.R. 135 (3.69 miles north of S.R. 56) are also included on the just over $700,000 contract. Major traffic impacts are not expected as most of the work will occur off the roadway, however, the outside shoulders will be closed while work is in progress. Flagging will be possible at times for the movement of equipment and materials.

Once initial work is complete on S.R. 56, crews will move to S.R. 60, followed by S.R. 135, spending three to four weeks at each location. Clean-up work will occur at all three sites at the end of the contract, which is expected to be complete by the end of June, weather permitting.

INDOT reminds drivers to use extra caution, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
